| Mystick: from the 18th Century Mardi Gras tradition for secret reveler. Couturier: French for someone who hand creates couture, or high fashion gowns and accessories. Mystick Couturier is two men who want to help you with your next event. We specialize in evening gowns and pageant attire; but also make masks, costumes, props, centerpieces, or scenery. Ask us. If we can't do it, we'll tell you. Gerald (Jay) Herring, pictured on the right, received his MFA in costume design and history from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Iowa. He has worked in regional and educational theatre for over 25 years before forming Mystick Couturier. Douglas Baloy, on the left, received his Masters in theater design and technology from SUNY Binghamton and has worked in scenery, props, marketing, and costumes in regional theatre for 20 years before joining Jay full time. Pictured above is a twenty-foot long parade float built for one of our local Mardi Gras clubs, the Krewe of the Phantom Host of Montgomery, AL for their 2006 ball. It is designed for about 15 riders, but could hold more. It's built to last of exterior grade plywoods and chasing vinyl-coated rope lights on a utility trailer base.
